2021 Mazda CX-9 Redesign, Price, Release Date, Specs. The carmaker has announced the all-new 2021 Mazda CX-9 which will hit the road with several upgrades compared to the current model. Visually, we are expecting to see changes in the lights, bumpers and a few more exterior colors. Inside the cabin, the manufacturer will upgrade it with more tech features while on the engine front, it will use the same engine as the current model.
2021 Mazda CX-9 powertrain and performance
The new 2021 Mazda CX-9 will come with the same engine which powers the current model. It is the well-known 2.5-liter inline-4 turbocharged Skyactive-G engine which is able to make 227 horses and the torque of 310 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. And it will be offered with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Connected to front wheels, this unit gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Its towing capacity will be up to 3,500 pounds.
The exterior and interior design
As for the exterior design, the CX-9 will look like the larger version of the CX-5 model and it is an elegant SUV characterized by a long hood, slim headlamps, and large grille. The rear end is dominated by the pair of exhaust outlets which give it a sportier look and horizontal taillights. For the 2021 Mazda CX-9, we expect some small changes in terms of external appearance and those will include small revisions of the lights on the front and rear fascia and revised bumpers. We could also see a few more exterior color shades. Some new designs of wheels are also very likely to happen.
Inside, the 2021 Mazda CX-9 comes with three rows of seats as standard. It can place up to seven passengers. The first and the second rows are roomy and comfortable for adults while the third row is the best for children. The center console is wide and there is a standard 7.0-inch color touchscreen for the infotainment system. As. for the cargo space, there is a room of cubic feet. And with the third row folded down, it expands to 38.2 cubic feet.
The equipment of the 2021 Mazda CX-9
The upcoming 2021 Mazda CX-9 comes standard with three-zone climate control, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera, 18-inch wheels, cloth seats, power features, Bluetooth, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen screen. The Touring model will add leather seats, a power liftgate, an 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment, and power adjustable front seats. The Grand Touring comes with adaptive cruise control, dual-pane sunroof, a head-up display, 20-inch wheels, heated first and second rows of seats, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive headlights. The Signature models will get Bose audio, LED headlights, LED interior lighting, and rosewood interior trim.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Release date and price
The manufacturer still hasn’t revealed when the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will go on sale. It might be sometime next year. The starting price is expected to be around $33,200.
