2021 Skoda Eniaq: Rumors, Concept, Specs, and Release Date. The first electric SUV of the Czech brand will be called Skoda Enyaq and will be presented later this year. This is the first model of the house based on the MEB electrified platform of the Volkswagen Group
The Skoda Enyaq is the first electric SUV of the Czech brand and will be presented by the end of 2021, with an arrival on the market expected in 2021. Waiting to be able to see it live over the next few months, our photographer has pinched the prototype of this model during the acceptance tests, on a highway near the central company of Mlada Boleslav.
The name Enyaq derives from the Irish term “enya”, which means “source of life”.
This word derives from the Irish Gaelic “Eithne”, which can be translated with the concepts of “essence”, “spirit” or “principle”. Following the names of previous SUVs, which arrived from Canada and Greenland, the Czech brand took inspiration, also in this case, from the language of a northern region. This nomenclature combines the letter “E” of electric mobility with the letter “Q” which characterizes the ending of the names of the previous SUVs of the brand (Kodiaq, Karoq, and Kamiq).
Skoda SUV As A Station Wagon And Coupe
The Skoda study from Geneva has one electric motor each on the front and rear axles, which together produce 306 hp. In between, the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery is housed in the underbody.
According to the WLTP cycle, it should enable a range of up to 500 kilometers. Like the ID.4, the Skoda Eniaq alias Enyaq receives this all-wheel configuration and in the basic version rear-wheel-drive– analogous to ID.3.
The battery should be available in three sizes: 45 kWh, 58 kWh and 77 kWh. In addition to a classic SUV, an SUV coupé also comes from Skoda.
Skoda Eniaq Concept
Thanks to these images, we can take the first look, albeit still partially disguised, of this new model, which will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric platform and will resume a good part of the lines seen last year in Geneva with the Vision iV concept.
The interiors, also pinched, offer an important change compared to the current Skoda models: in the center we find a large display, with a flat instrument panel, just taking up the configuration of the concept of a year ago. For the rest, there will be plenty of storage compartments and the possibility of wireless charging up to two smartphones.
