2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, Electric, Specs, and Pics. The all-new 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid is about to arrive. It isn’t the first hybrid pickup but it is one of the best ones you can get. The F-150 PowerBoost comes with maximized battery assistance, including the power and electric supply.
Ford released official performance figures so we can now finally compare the powertrain options of the F-150 pickup truck. We already wrote about the various different versions of the F-150 model and its updates for 2023. We will now focus on the performances exclusively because of that.
2023 F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid – What Is It?
The 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid comes with great performances. For a start, a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is available. This unit has been modified so it can properly work in a combination with the battery pack. A 1.5kilowatt-hour battery provides some extra power.
It is an EcoBoost engine that also comes with a 35-kilowatt electric motor. The power goes through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain provides juice to the Pro Power Onboard generator and it performs regenerative braking. Thanks to that, the system harvest wasted energy.
Specs
New 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid is one of the models that comes with class-leading ratings. It can produce 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. The PowerBoost version provides astonishing power but this is not enough to provide the same or the better towing capacity as some other F-150 variants. Still, it can tow up to 12,700 pounds. As for the payload capacity, this version provides 2,120 pounds. As with any other hybrid model, this one also provides improved fuel efficiency.
2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid Competition
Now that we showed performance figures, we will focus on the rest of the competition. The 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid will generate 10 more horses than the GM’s 6.2-liter V8 engine. This variant is available in models such as Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. Moreover, F-150 provides 70 lb-ft of torque more than Ford’s EcoBoost 3.5-liter. On the other hand, Ram TRX comes with an astonishing 702 horsepower. No one can beat this, but the TRX variant offers only 8,100 pounds of towing capacity and 1,310 pounds of payload rating.
The Ram 1500 pickup can tow 12,750 pounds and Ram 1500 eTorque model up to 11,500 pounds. Still, the payload capacity of the PowerBoost Hybrid model is its weakest point. For an instance, F-150 equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engine can tow 3,325 pounds. Some other Blue Oval’s outputs are offering even lower ratings. That includes a 2.7-liter EcoBoost and a 3.0-liter PowerStroke diesel.
Onboard Generator
While its power is comparable, the 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid shines elsewhere. We are talking about its impressive tech, more precisely, about the Pro Power Onboard generator. This generator is offered as standard and it comes with a 2.4-kilowatt system. This system can be replaced by a more powerful 7.2-kilowatt configuration. Luckily, the F-150 pickup will have enough juice to power both variants and far more than that.
2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid onboard
The generator provides a host-bed mounted 120V and 240V plug-ins. It comes with a 32-hour run time on a fuel tank. Still, Ford is refusing to provide more details about the driving range on a single tank. However, the manufacturer said the projections are suggesting around 700 miles per fill-up. The F-150 PowerBoost variant can be had in every trim level as long as it is a crew cab setup.
