2023 Lexus ES Redesign, Updates, Specs, and Pictures. The forthcoming 2023 Lexus ES mid-size sedan will go on sale this fall with more optional safety equipment, an updated infotainment system, and minor visual tweaks. The suspension is updated as well, but exterior changes are not significant at all. Whatsoever, the new ES sedan will host refreshed grille and headlights, but this upgrade is barely visible. Thanks to that, the 2021MY and 2022MY will look almost the same.

Lexus debuted the updated 2023 ES sedan at the Shanghai auto show last week and we are disappointed, as we expected more exciting improvements. On the other hand, we understand the decision as the current ES looks modern and incredibly handsome.

Powertrain Options

Nothing will change under the hood. The upcoming 2023 Lexus ES comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This unit powers the ES 250 variant, it develops 203 horsepower and it comes with an all-wheel-drive setup. If you want more power, the ES 350 version is using a larger 3.5-liter V6 with 302 horsepower. The gasoline V6 offers a standard front-wheel-drive system.

The range-topping ES 300h provides a 2.5-liter engine in combination with a hybrid system. Total output is rated at 215 hp, but 44 mpg combined is what makes ES 300h model so special. Of course, the hybrid variant is quieter and significantly more efficient than ES 250 and ES 350 models.

Lexus ES Gets Mild Facelift

The 2023 Lexus ES comes with the standard LED headlights, new wheels, and a new mesh pattern on the bolder spindle grille. For the first time, the ES 300h hybrid will be available with the attractive F Sport appearance package, which adds a rear spoiler, 19-inch black wheels, and other black exterior features. The teaser reveals that the back end remains largely intact.

This isn’t a bad thing, because even if we’re in the middle of its life cycle, the new-gen ES really looks handsome and very modern. This sedan is recognizable by its spindle front grille and we like the whole combination of sportiness and elegance. Lexus will offer new exterior colors, Cloudburst Gray and Iridium.

Interior Refreshments

The most noticeable improvements can be seen on the interior of the luxury sedan. The 2023 Lexus ES comes with standard 8.0-inch and optional 12.3-inch infotainment displays that have been moved forward 4.3 inches and converted to touchscreens. This is a very smart move, as this was one of the major complaints about older Lexus versions. The console hosts the same touchpad, but we can’t say if Lexus will improve graphics and generally, complete interface.

This is a luxury sedan, so comfort is not an issue. Moreover, the cabin is surprisingly spacious, even in the back. Tech-wise, Lexus ES provides a new Safety System+ 2.5 suite with the latest driver-assistance aids. That includes pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and curve speed reduction systems.

2023 Lexus ES Price, Release Date

The upgrades are not so significant, so the new 2023 Lexus ES will once again cost around $40,000. Of course, upper trim levels will cost above $50,000. The sales will begin later in 2021, most likely this November.
