2025 Kia Sportage Electric, PHEV, Hybrid, & Specs. The spy shots of the 2025 Kia Sportage are finally available. The popular compact SUV has been spied for the second time. This time, Kia clearly tested an electrified Sportage variant. Most likely, we are dealing with the hybrid powertrain option. How do we know that? Well, the prototype wears the legally required yellow sticker on the rear windshield.
This clearly suggests some sort of electrification. The 2025 Sportage is the next-gen model so we expect additional visual and interior improvements. It is the fifth-gen model are we are excited to share with you everything we know about it.
2025 Sportage PHEV Finally in the Offer
The highlight of the 2025 Kia Sportage is its all-new plug-in hybrid powertrain. This is something this SUV has lacked for some time now. The prototype was surely equipped with a hybrid powertrain because it didn’t make engine noise at startup. New Sportage combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor. A 13.8 kWh battery pack is available. And just like Tucson, Sportage will probably offer around 28 miles of all-electric driving range. Both plug-in and mild-hybrid hybrid models will be available and both models will offer a standard AWD system.
The rest of the powertrain option will be the same as in the Hyundai Tucson. The Kia Sportage will offer up to five electrified powertrains in Europe. That includes mentioned hybrid options and even a 1.6-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine. As for the transmission, the new 2025 Sportage offers both a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Exterior Redesign
New 2025 Kia Sportage has been spotted testing in Europe. The fifth-gen model won’t share that much with its predecessor. The prototype is fully covered in a heavy camo but it seems like we are looking at the final production model. For a start, the front fascia hosts low headlights and the rear part offers recessed taillamps. With the latest visual updates, Sportage SUV looks closer to Hyundai Tucson.
The body shape is very similar, along with the surface treatment. This comes as no surprise, as two models are sharing the same underpinnings. We can’t wait to see the uncovered Sportage model. From what we saw, Sportage doesn’t look like other Kia’s models so this is probably the new manufacturer’s design language.
Interior
At this moment, we don’t know how drastic are the updates on the inside. The 2025 Kia Sportage will probably arrive with the same interior layout. However, Kia will provide more upright materials and the cabin will surely gain the latest high-tech amenities. Thanks to that, the new Sportage will be more comfortable and it will look more modern.
The current model provides 30.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding the rear seats opens up to 60.0 cubic feet of cargo room. Still, rivals such as Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V are offering more room for the luggage.
2025 Kia Sportage Release Date and Price
The all-new 2025 Kia Sportage will debut next April in Korea. After that, this SUV will go on sale in Europe in North America, most likely later in the year. The price is now available yet, unfortunately. The Sportage model will continue to rival models such as VW Tiguan and Peugeot 3008.
